Supporting You to Live Life Your Way

About Us

At Olive Tree Occupational Therapy, we’re all about helping you live life on your terms. Based in Brisbane, we offer mobile tailored Occupational Therapy - meeting you wherever you are, whether that’s at home, in your community, or online via telehealth if you’re further afield.

We support teens and adults navigating neurodivergence, mental health challenges, or physical disabilities with practical, capacity-building strategies designed to fit your unique life. We get that therapy needs to fit into your life - not the other way around. That’s why we bring our expertise directly to you, making it easier to get the support you need in the spaces where you feel most comfortable.

"Supporting You to Live Life Your Way" isn’t just our tagline - it’s the heart of what we do. Whether you’re managing neurodivergence, seeking mental health support, or adjusting to physical challenges, we collaborate with you every step of the way to build independence, confidence, and well-being.

Services We Offer

At Olive Tree Occupational Therapy, our Functional Assessments are more than just forms and checklists - they’re a deep dive into how you live, what’s working, and what could work better. We take the time to understand your unique strengths, needs, and everyday routines - at home, work, or in the community. They are designed to empower you with insight and support.

We specialise in complex and layered presentations, including psychosocial disabilities, dual diagnoses, and intersecting support needs. Our assessments are comprehensive, trauma-informed, and shaped by your real-world context.

We offer:

  • Functional Capacity Assessments (NDIS)

  • Supported Independent Living (SIL) Assessments

  • Individualised Living Options (ILO) Assessments

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Assessments – TAC, WorkCover, JobAccess

  • Assistive Technology, Equipment & Aids Prescription

  • Vocational Assessments & Return-to-Work Planning

How we assess:

We use a combination of tools and approaches to get a clear, evidence-informed picture of your strengths and support needs:

  • Self-reports, structured interviews, and outcome measures

  • Observation of real-life activities (in-home or in community)

  • Standardised functional and cognitive assessments

  • Task analysis of everyday routines, exploring physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional demands

  • Environmental scans and risk considerations, where relevant

All assessments are tailored to your needs and preferences. Our reports are clear, comprehensive, and meet medicolegal standards, helping you and your support network navigate funding decisions, advocacy, planning, or transitions.

Whether you’re seeking support to build independence, access services, advocate for your needs, or simply understand yourself better, we’re here to guide you through the process with professionalism, empathy, and respect.

At Olive Tree Occupational Therapy, we create meaningful, person-centred programs that help you build the capacity to live, work, and connect on your terms.

We collaborate with you and your support network to develop tailored plans that focus on the areas that matter most - whether that's daily living, work, or community participation. Our approach is grounded in evidence-informed, neuro-affirming practice, with an emphasis on smart goal-setting and real-world outcomes.

Support happens where life happens: in your home, at work, in day programs, or out in the community. By working in natural environments, we help you build confidence, strengthen routines, and find practical ways to overcome everyday barriers.

Programs are flexible and regularly reviewed to reflect your evolving goals, capacity, and circumstances. We also work alongside your wider support network (including health professionals, family, and employers) to ensure change is supported and sustainable.

We offer capacity building support in areas such as:

  • Independent Living Skills (e.g. personal hygiene, managing household routines, cooking, budgeting)

  • Disability Prevention (e.g. falls prevention, managing chronic health conditions to reduce disability at work or home)

  • Return to Work Planning (for re-entering your current job after injury, illness, or a health-related break)

  • Work Transition Programs (support for starting a new job or navigating a new workplace)

  • Assistive Technology Trials (e.g. tools or aids to support independence at home or work)

At Olive Tree Occupational Therapy, we help you find the right tools to make everyday life easier, safer, and more independent - at home, at work, and in the community.

We take a collaborative, person-centred approach to assistive technology. That means working with you (and your support network, if helpful) to understand your goals, strengths, and the daily tasks that matter most to you. Together, we identify practical solutions that support your independence and dignity.

Our process includes:

  • A comprehensive assessment of your functional needs and environments

  • Support to trial equipment and explore what works best for you

  • Training and guidance to build your confidence with new tools

  • Tailored, evidence-informed reports for funding or implementation

We specialise in neuro-affirming and real-world supports, with a focus on ensuring that assistive technology fits your life - not the other way around.

Examples of assistive technology we support include:

  • Mobility aids to support safe, independent movement

  • Adaptive tools for daily living - like dressing, cooking, or hygiene

  • Environmental controls to improve access, safety, and ease at home or in the community

When your equipment is the right fit, it doesn’t just reduce barriers - it opens up possibilities. Our goal is to help you feel confident, capable, and supported in doing life your way.

At Olive Tree Occupational Therapy, we offer comprehensive sensory assessments to help you understand how your nervous system takes in, processes, and responds to the world around you. Whether you’re experiencing sensory overload, fatigue, or difficulty staying regulated across home, work, or social settings - we’re here to help you make sense of it all.

Using tools like the Sensory Profile, we explore the patterns behind your sensory preferences and sensitivities. We then work with you (and your support network if you choose) to develop personalised, practical strategies to support your sensory well-being.

This might include:

  • Adapting your environment to reduce sensory overwhelm

  • Adjusting routines to better match your regulation needs

  • Exploring sensory tools and strategies that actually help (and aren’t just another thing to carry)

Our approach is neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in evidence. We aim to validate your sensory experience and offer tools that enhance comfort, confidence, and participation - without trying to "fix" who you are.

Whether you’re looking to better understand yourself or improve your day-to-day sensory comfort, a sensory assessment can be an empowering next step.

At Olive Tree Occupational Therapy, we partner with organisations, professionals, and service providers to foster inclusive, neuro-affirming, and person-centred environments. Whether you’re a school, workplace, or community group, we help you create spaces where people with neurodivergence, mental health challenges, and physical disabilities can truly thrive.

Rooted in lived experience, clinical expertise, and evidence-informed practice, our consultancy is tailored to your unique setting, goals, and the people you support.

Our areas of support include:

  • Program Design & Review: Developing or enhancing inclusive programs that encourage participation and belonging across educational, workplace, and community settings.

  • Staff Training & Workshops: Providing engaging, practical training on neuro-affirming practices, accessibility, trauma-informed communication, and inclusive service delivery.

  • Policy & Practice Development: Assisting with reviewing and building policies that embody inclusive, ethical, and strengths-based approaches.

  • Needs Assessments: Evaluating environments and services to identify barriers and opportunities, followed by actionable recommendations.

  • Collaborative Partnerships: Facilitating connections with professionals, lived-experience advocates, and networks to establish sustainable, multidisciplinary support.

Whether you’re launching new initiatives or strengthening existing services, we offer practical guidance grounded in values that matter. Together, let’s build systems that truly work - for everyone.

Principles of Practice

At Olive Tree Occupational Therapy, Jacinta embraces an inclusive, respectful, and strengths-based approach, welcoming all individuals to her practice. Our core principles include:

  • Neurodivergent Affirming Support: We centre your strengths, amplify neurodivergent voices, and honour the lived experiences of neurodiverse clients and practitioners. Your unique perspective guides our work together.

  • Commitment to Occupational Justice: We uphold the right of all people to meaningful participation, choice, and balance in daily life. We actively work to recognise and address occupational injustice, alienation, deprivation, imbalance, and marginalisation.

  • Respect for First Nations Peoples: We acknowledge the traditional custodianship of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over the lands, waters, and places where we live, work, and play. We honour their enduring connection and culture.

  • Support for the Health Benefits of Good Work: We align with evidence demonstrating that meaningful, supportive work promotes health and well-being, while long-term absence, disability, or unemployment can have adverse effects.
